It's Giving Chicken & Chips After School

WELCOME TO THE UK
Episode #4
Woman with shopping bags entering her house in london in the early 2000's

London is a melting point of different religions, communities and walks of life so where I grew up was no different. My neighbours, school friends and even teachers were all different from me and yet we were all living the British Experience in our own ways.

Grabbing a cheeky Greggs before school with mates, doing our hair in the school toilets whilst the whistle was being blown for form time and making time for chicken and chips after school was peak 2012’s secondary school fun.

‘Have you seen Riverdale yet?’ Or ‘13 Reasons Why’

was widely discussed in school hallways as Netflix was rising and teens were starting to find out what they liked to view for entertainment.

Growing up in London to me means that I’m used to the busy hustle and bustle, that I’m immune to weird interactions on the Tube or the deadly rush hour transport times. It means complaining about the price rise of bakery items then getting them anyway. It’s not perfect but I wouldn’t want to live outside of this city with all of its unique charm. London is the home of my heart.
